Little Spider

1996

Bulldog had been busy earlier in the day, and was now sitting under the old shade tree, when Little Spider happened along; Oh the chatter between the two was ever so kind as they were speaking about the thing’s big and small that the great Web in the sky was doing in their lives. When all of a sudden Little Spider said, “Oh my Bulldog, I must run, I’ll see you later, bye.”

Ole Bulldog decided to just sit and do his own thing as he set under that old shade tree, when Alex the cat stopped by. Ole Bulldog sat straight up and growled, “Oh! What are you doing here Alex you dumb cat?” “I was passing by and wanted to say hi,” “Okay, you said hi, now get out of here cause I’m busy doing my own thing.”

“Bulldog calm down. I wanted to speak to you about the Web.” “But, but I look up to you, and just because I’m a cat doesn’t mean you have to be so gruff when I’m around.” Become gruff?, me? Never! Have I bit you yet? “Just because I’m big everyone says it’s all my fault.” “I didn’t say that.” “Yes, yes, you did!” “I didn’t!” “Leave me alone cat, do you hear me? Leave me alone.” “okay, okay, but, I still never said it was all your fault!” “Get out of here now cat, or else your going to really see me mad.”

Ole Bulldog was really angry now, growling and as he snapped he caught Alex the cat by the foot. Alex screamed, “Ouch! You just bit me.” “No, O no I didn’t.” “Yes you did.” “Well fine I guess I did to hear you tell it, but I didn’t. So go on, do you want someplace else besides here with me.” “Bulldog, does this mean you don’t want me here with you?” “Cat you said that not me, so you believe whatever you want,” I will but do you hear me Bulldog when I say, you bit me?” “Okay so I bit you, now what do you want me to say?”

Poor Alex the cat became so confused as she believed the ole bulldog cared for her, and her tears begin to well up, but they just wouldn’t flow as Alex tried hard to hide her hurt feelings. Instead of crying in front of the grumpy ole dog, she turned and went away so very sad and still in need of that special friend.

Chee Chee the little mouse peeked under the fence and saw the ole bulldog reading his book of life. Chee Chee sat and watched the bulldog study ever so long, then he’d sing and read some more then he spotted her peeking through the fence.

Chee Chee thought, “Oh my, this is a good time to go for a visit as he’s already spotted me here.” “Bulldog hi.” Bulldog rolled his eye’s around to look at Chee Chee and said, “What! What do you want now?” “Well I’ve seen you at Church and you seem so jolly and kind. I thought I would stop by and say hi.” “Why?” barked bulldog. “Can’t you see I’m tired and enjoy doing my own thing all the time, alone.”

“My bulldog you seem so nice and all, and here you are snapping at me, why? Why are you hurting my feeling’s? when I’m being ever so kind. Bulldog, you’ve changed so quick and this bothers me as I’ve never seen you like this before.”

“Bulldog can I tell you something? Once, I was just like you mean and nasty to one and all, unless of course I wanted them to see what I wanted them to see but I ran into Little Spider who taught me many, many good things.” She taught me that it was better to be nice as causing strife became a horrible habit and it allowed you to hurt others unexpectedly.” “Little Spider told me when I wasn’t being nice, I wasn’t doing what the Web way up in the sky wanted me to do, as he wanted me to treat everyone nice at all times.”

“Little Spider told me, no matter how many good things I did for myself, if I only took care of my own needs and passed a friend by, then it didn’t matter because I was useless not only to the Web way up in the sky but to myself, so then she ask “Where is your hope when it comes to your down time? As you only allow others to see the good your doing in your spare time, then reminding me, this wasn‘t what the Web wanted for my life.”

Little Spider told me, Your following that pretty little thing and she will get you into trouble, you’ll see, as she brings you false hope. She will bring you so much false joy that your hope in her will change, and silently your pain will grow and grow as she lets her true light shine, then it will be to late as you are now doomed.”

Bulldog growled ever so long then barked, “I’m not following that pretty little thing! I have friends and that is all. I do good for others, they laugh and bring me joy, but not you, you get on my nerves, so go on get out of here as I want to sit and do my own thing.”

“I’m going to tell you something Bulldog okay?” “Go ahead, your going to anyway.” “If I was the Web or even the Web’s Son how would you treat me?” “That’s easy, I’d treat him with love, respect and all the nice way’s of course.” “No, no you wouldn’t Bulldog.” “O yes I would, you don’t know what I’d do.” “Well this time your wrong ole boy, for the Web has sent me, so full of his love and kind ways and you’ve treated me ever so mean for no reason. Bulldog, learn to live the life the Web has given you.” “I do Chee Chee, you think you know all things, why’s this?” “Bulldog the Web has never failed me in anyway. I’ve learned not to only read his words, but I’ve learned to watch my every step, just because I’m a little mouse doesn’t mean I don’t have a heart or feeling’s. Bulldog, I have all these things wonderful thing’s because I live in the heart of this great Web way up in the sky and you could to, if you wanted them.”

“Bulldog, the Web say’s, “To love one another as I have loved you.”

“Just think, if the Web snapped at you in your time of need, where would you be?” “Instead he shower’s you with his undying love so that you will never feel left out or alone, so won’t you please consider your ole grumpy way’s, and you can if only you will believe in a love that is bigger then you or I.”

“Bulldog, it’s not easy to teach an old dog new way’s, but, I’m going to say, “All thing’s are possible through the Web’s Son, His amazing love and forgiving ways, if only you will believe in all of his ways, as you cannot serve the web of this world if you wish to have eternal life.”

“Bulldog, if we pray together you to can see how this amazing grace and love will change your life. I pray you try to learn the Web’s ways not only in words, but deeds as well.” “Yes Chee, Chee, I want to do thing’s the right way, but I’m set in my own ways and tired of things never going right in my life, so if it’s not to late, can we pray?”

“Dear Web way up in the sky, I’m guilty of being just like ole Bulldog of letting my words just fly. Teach me to say the thing’s you’d have me to say, as I’m believing thing’s can truly change in my life if I have you in my heart. Will you please teach me the thing’s I need to change, in order to serve you in the way I should. With your forgiveness and love, I know I can be the best I’ve ever been in your name. Amen and Amen.”
