Why We Still Baptize

Saints I have been asked why we still water baptize, when it wasn't mentioned after nor during the ministry of Christ Jesus.

Below you will find two occurrences, which were found in the book of Acts chapter eight.

Water Baptism

Acts 8:12-17

But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the Kingdom of God, they were baptized, both men and women.

Then Simon (The Sorcerer) himself believed also; and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs, which were done.

Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the Word Of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost.

(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

This tells me in the above scriptures that the men and women of Samaria were water baptized by Philip. First then they were filled with the Holy Ghost, only after having been prayed for by the Apostles Peter and John.

Further on in Chapter Eight I find that Philip is told by an Angel of the Lord to go to the South from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. Philip obeyed and started journey South and he saw a man of Ethiopia who was a Eunuch with great authority under the Queen of Ethiopia.

29-Then the Spirit said unto Philip, go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

Philip, obeying the Spirit of God, ran over to this man, and heard him reading the prophet of Esaias and asked him if he understood what he was reading.

31-And he said, how can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

Philip ministered to this man as they traveled down the highway. Then in verse 36, we find that they came to a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, Here is the water; what dot hinder me to be baptized?

37-And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest, and he answered and said; I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

38-And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the Eunuch; and he baptized him.

All scriptures are used out of the King James Bible.
